Garter belts are clothes worn around the waist and they’re mainly used to hold up stockings. The main feature of the belts is adjustable straps. You should note that the straps are usually of different sizes; therefore, you should be very cautious when buying the belts.
As rule of thumb you should ensure that you buy garter belts with straps that perfectly fit your size. This is because if you buy belts with straps that are too long, you will have an unattractive look.
You should also consider the material of your stocking when buying the belts. If you have stretch stockings, you should buy a belt with four straps. On the other hand if your stockings are made from nylon or other non-stretch materials, you should buy belts with a minimum of six straps.
Garter belts also come with clips that are used in attaching the stocking. There are usually two types of clips: metal and plastic clips. When buying the belts, it’s recommended that you buy those with metal clips. This is because they tend to last for a longer time compared to the cheaper plastic clips.
How to put garter belts on
You need to first put on your panties (whether they are boy shorts, thongs or whatever you prefer) then put the garter belt on and arrange the straps to the front and to the back.
If you have more than four straps, you should also arrange some of the straps to the sides. For a secure fit, you should adjust the length of the straps so that they can fit you perfectly. You should then wear your stockings.
At this time, you should open the clips and clip the front straps onto your stockings. You should then reach between your legs and grab the back garter strap then using the other hand, stock the strap in place. When all the straps are in place, you should tighten them and ensure that the seams are straight.
Some stocking are very delicate and in such cases, it’s paramount that you wear gloves to avoid ruining the stockings when putting them on.
When clipping, you should try to clip the back straps first so that you can easily position and adjust the front side.
When it comes to the adjustment of the straps, you should not put the back strap at the 6 o’clock position: the strap should be at the on the 7 or 8 o’clock position on the left thigh and on the 4 or 5 o’clock position on the right thigh.
